Meet some of our Helping Hands:
Before a horse riding accident left her a complete paraplegic, Katherine worked as a track rider for a local farmer and horse trainer. after a stellar rise in wheelchair basketball circles, where she helped Australia’s under 25 women’s team to a silver medal in the U 25 World Championships in Canada, Katherine has since returned to her real love – horses. She is currently studying Equine Business Management at Marcus Oldham College in Geelong, Victoria and one day plans to own and manage her own breeding stud.
Katherine has played an important role as a rural helping hand by visiting and connecting with rural and “horsey” patients at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre in Melbourne – a place she herself briefly called “home”
